"Student"
Official designation as "student" at Adelphi is reserved for those individuals who have applied for acceptance to a particular University program or school and who have been granted admission in writing.

University recognition of an individual as a student does not, however, imply or assign matriculation in the particular program or school of choice. Candidates who desire matriculation in certificate or degree programs are advised to investigate all the requirements necessary for official acceptance into such programs.

Non-Degree Student
In order to register for classes as a non-degree student, applicants must submit a completed non-degree application, the application fee and the appropriate materials

Visiting Student is a student taking courses at Adelphi with the intention of transferring them to the degree-granting institution. To apply for Visiting Student status students should submit a letter from the degree-granting institution that provides course recommendations and that states that the credits earned in the completed courses will be accepted in transfer must be submitted each semester.

Graduate Student, who is taking undergraduate prerequisite courses must submit an official transcript or copy of diploma as proof of an earned baccalaureate degree. Students intending to pursue a graduate degree at Adelphi after completing the prerequisite courses will be required to submit an application to the Office of Graduate Admissions.

Special Student
Applicants must submit proof of high school graduation and must have graduated at least one year prior to application as a non-degree student. Permission to attend will be considered on an individual basis.
