A major is a prescribed series of courses that enable you to acquire depth of knowledge and competence in an academic area of particular interest. A minor is an opportunity to take several courses in a subject area (at least 18 credits) without committing to the requirements of a second major.
Everything you need to know about majors and minors can be found in our University Bulletin. It’s also wise to discuss your options with your department chair or dean. All prerequisites and course descriptions appear in the University Bulletin.
If you need help with your decision, your adviser will support you. You can also complete our Choosing a Major Worksheet. And remember—you will excel in any major you intrinsically enjoy. Choose a major you’re passionate about.
