Challenging and supporting your needs and potential.
The Adelphi University General Studies program is a unique program for motivated freshmen that emphasizes small class sizes and personal support to help students transition to the challenges and experiences of university life.
Our dedicated counselors, faculty members and staff know that academic support and a demanding curriculum motivate our students in General Studies. Our proven combination of guidance, tutoring and rigorous course work is designed for those whose academic potential may not yet be fully represented by their high school record or SAT score.
We believe additional structure and support will help General Studies students unlock their full potential. Upon completion of the General Studies program, they continue as sophomores in any of our more than 50 programs of study. We know that they will succeed throughout their college career and beyond.
The Adelphi University Honors College offers an enriching and intellectually challenging academic environment for ambitious undergraduate students. An intimate but diverse learning community, our 300 students come from across the country and around the globe.
Through engaging seminars, Honors College students explore the knowledge and theories that have influenced modern civilization. Independent research projects, including a senior thesis, further prepare them for academic and professional success. These alumni excel in top graduate and professional schools and in a broad range of careers.
Our Honors College is for students who want an intimate environment where professors and peers capture imaginations, fuel creativity and promote independent thinking. A unique experience and demanding curriculum will enrich any major field of study from freshman through senior year.
Students in the Honors College generally rank in the top 15 percent of their class and have a combined SAT score of 1900, or the ACT equivalent with a writing score. Qualified applicants will be invited to meet with the dean for an interview.
In this program, students with specific language-based learning disabilities, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), are provided an opportunity to receive structured and individualized support from our staff of experienced professionals.
Personal attention is the hallmark of an Adelphi education. Our Learning Disabilities program offers even more focused guidance to help you succeed academically, en route to future career success. Working with your unique needs and circumstances, we offer you the opportunity, structure and support to achieve your academic goals while taking part in the university life of our vibrant college campus.
For more than three decades, Adelphi’s Learning Disabilities program has helped hundreds of college students succeed. We know that students with learning disabilities and/or ADHD are often gifted and talented. Given the right resources, we can help these students thrive.
Students may be considered for admission to the University through the Learning Disabilities program if they do not meet the traditional criteria for enrollment. Materials submitted for Learning Disability documentation are held in a confidential file until students are advised of the decision of the University Admissions Committee.
Are you interested in what’s happening around the world? We are, too. Every day, we build on our long tradition of international inquiry that dates back to Dr. Charles Levermore, our first president. He was an outspoken internationalist, a friend and classmate of Woodrow Wilson and the recipient of the prestigious Bok Peace Prize.
The Levermore Global Scholars is a program of distinction that prepares next-generation leaders by offering its students a unique opportunity to learn, reflect and lead through civic and professional engagement in community projects, internships and study abroad.
Levermore Global Scholars come from many different majors, but share the same passion about community and volunteer work, social and cultural initiatives and studying different cultures.
The education you receive at Adelphi is grounded in Dr. Levermore’s desire for civic engagement. You’ll participate in community service projects and international experiential learning, and you’ll graduate with a widened perspective that will greatly help you in today’s global economy or in future graduate studies.
