Required Credentials

A completed undergraduate application for admission. Both the Adelphi Application and the Common Application are accepted by Adelphi University for international freshman and transfer applicants. Please submit whichever application best suits your needs.

Adelphi Application      Common Application

A nonrefundable application fee of $50. Applicants who apply online can pay this fee with a credit card or electronic check. Checks or money orders should be made payable to Adelphi University and drawn on a U.S. bank. (International money orders are not accepted.)

A personal statement or essay. You are encouraged to submit, in 500 words or less, a response to one of the provided questions or a topic of your choice. You may submit a report or paper you have written during the current school year if needed.

Academic records. Undergraduate applicants are required to submit official secondary school/university records directly to Adelphi University. One set of records should be in your native language and one set translated into English. The submission and translation of all required documents and fees are entirely the responsibility of the applicant. Photocopies are not acceptable without an official school stamp or seal.

Undergraduate transfer applicants must submit all official transcripts and course descriptions for all institutions of higher education attended.

SAT or TOEFL/IELTS scores

  • If submitting SAT: Scores can be submitted via your official high school transcript, or directly from the appropriate educational testing service. For students intending to enroll in General Studies or the Learning Resource Program, SAT scores are highly suggested.
    • Students who have obtained a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or who have been out of high school for one year or more will not be required to take the SAT (unless specifically requested to do so).
  • If submitting TOEFL or IELTS scores: We require a minimum score of 80 on the TOEFL iBT or 6.5 on the IELTS. Students are required to provide proof of English proficiency if English is not their native language.
