The Post-9/11 G.I. Bill and Other Financing for Military Applicants

The Post-9/11 G.I. Bill represents the largest expansion of education benefits to veterans since World War II. Eligible veterans can receive benefits to pay tuition, housing and textbook costs that could allow them to study at Adelphi for little to no cost.

Effective Date

The Post-9/11 G.I. Bill became effective for training on or after August 1, 2009.

Post-9/11 G.I. Bill Eligibility

The Post-9/11 G.I. Bill is for individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service on or after September 11, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days. You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill. Read the eligibility and payments information for more information.

Application 

Apply for G.I. Bill benefits online or call 888.442.4551 to have a form mailed to you.

Students interested in applying and enrolling at Adelphi, regardless of whether or not they will be eligible for G.I. Bill benefits, should immediately fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). FAFSA forms are also available at the Office of Student Financial Services.

Adelphi Tuition and Fees Covered by the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill

• Traditional tuition and fees is $14,660 per semester.
• For 2012-2013, the maximum amount of educational benefits for Veterans covered 100% under Chapter 33 is $18,077.50. Adelphi is an approved Yellow Ribbon school. Chapter 33 students whose benefit is 100% may also be eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Under this program, a veteran student whose tuition and fees are not covered by other benefits and types of aid may receive up to $2,500 from the VA and matching funds of $2,500 from the university.
• Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH): This could result in thousands of dollars in housing assistance while you study, depending upon your rank. Find out what you may be eligible to receive.
• $1,000 stipend for books and supplies annually.
• Transfer of Eligible Benefits (TEB) to dependent spouse or children: Service members who are enrolled in the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill can transfer unused education benefits to their dependent spouse or children. Get more information on transfer of eligible benefits.

For Currently Enlisted or Reservist Military

Adelphi is a member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Consortium, colleges and universities dedicated to helping servicemembers and their families get college degrees. Adelphi is also a member of the Concurrent Admissions Program (ConAP), allowing soon-to-enlist or currently enlisted military personnel to enroll in and complete college courses while they continue their service commitments.
